Welcome to Soro good Neighbours

Our beautiful community of South Rosebank (SoRo) is nestled between the Rouge National Urban Park, Lake Ontario and Petticoat Creek Conservation Area in South Pickering. We share this space with an abundance of wildlife, making it a very special place to live.  ‘SoRo Good Neighbours’ is a community group that enjoys finding ways to connect with our neighbours.

who we are  & what we do

SoRo Good Neighbours was established in 2013 as part of the City of Pickering’s Celebrating Sustainable Neighbourhood Program. Our community of 1000+ homes is bound by Highway 401 to the north, the Rouge National Urban Park to the west, Petticoat Creek Conservation Area to the east and Lake Ontario to the south. This is where ‘Nature Meets Nurture’, our community slogan.

Our families in the South Rosebank area of Pickering are committed to organizing a variety of sustainable initiatives including: community cleanups, maintenance of two native species/pollinator friendly community gardens (including the sale of native plants for home gardens),  and Rosebank Road bridge flower baskets (in partnership with the City). We also celebrate community art in a variety of ways including our beautiful SoRo Butterfly on the Rosebank Tennis Court fence, Kindness Signs and Kindness Rocks, and our annual Create ‘n Sip events in collaboration with our community partner Abbeylawn Manor Retirement Home. Check out our amazing local art talent submitted to our first and hopefully annual SoRo Art Expose.

SoRo Family Fun Day and Celebrating South Rosebank annual events provide opportunities to get to know and have fun with neighbours. In partnership with the Durham Regional Police, SoRo also established Neighbourhood Watch. All of the above and many other activities help us to connect with each other, creating a safe and fun place to live.

SoRo Good Neighbours recognizes that a strong community is essential to the health and well being of a person’s life.
